parents decided that Noelle would be better suited as head coach at Penn
High School, which was closer to the extended family. This decision
ultimately led Ashley to join the Iowa State Cyclones.
As a Cyclone, Ashley Joens led Damascus High School to four consecutive
state championships. She broke records, earning the title of Damascus’
all-time leading scorer, and received numerous honors, including the
District Player of the Year award in Maryland three consecutive years
(2016-2019). Her college career started on a high note as she was ranked
eleventh nationally and Damascus’ first-ever McDonald’s All-American. The
talented basketball player was also named as a finalist for Miss Basketball
in both Maryland and District of Columbia.
Ashley Joens entered the 2023 WNBA Draft as one of the top prospects,
